National Consciousness And Zhang Chengzhi’s Realism Creation

Zhang Chengzhi’s works are more or less showing the Hui’s characteristics which are different from other ethnic groups that we don’t know. So he becomes one of Hui’s representative writers in the contemporary of time. At the same time, he is an educated youth writer.During the four years in the countryside of Horqin grassland,he kept the relations with all the Mongolian people as the same as family relationship. Thus most of his works show the great relations of Mongolian people. But his works differ from other educated youth writer’s work. All of his works wrote the suffering of honest and kindhearted Mongolian people, the kindness of heart,the beauty of humanity. This is not only show that he got along well with laboring people and communicated the thoughts with Mongolian people from bottom heart, but also show the humanitarian solicitude. But other writers were not. He once said, no matter what kind of belief, people need have one. As a chinese who live in the Period of Social Transformation, especially for chinese intellectuals. When they didn’t know how to deal with the problem,they felt confused and fearful. In this situation, some of them opted for silence, some of them went for business, and some of them succumbed for literature. In order to make money all of them abandoned their position as intellectuals. As a minority writer, when he found the chinese intellectuals copied the western theories and practices blindly, the imperialist coveted the land of China. He wrote many essays to arrests the attention of chinese people. Even though this may lead to the misunderstanding and opposition of intellectual class, he never mined.In this paper, the author primarily explores the intelligentsia’s religious convictions of sheer spirit based on three points:the national stand and the folk position of Zhang Chengzhi and the elite position of the intellectuals.
