Subject-predicate structure and Subject-de-predicate structure are the two wide-concernedsyntactic structure, which have had a lot of achievements. However, there is not much comparativestudy of these two. So based on the previous studies and a large number of first-hand data, thisthesis carries out a comprehensive inspection from the structure, semantic and syntactic functions. In the structure, because of the difference of predicate part, Subject-predicate structure can bedivided into three types——noun, verb and adjective. And Subject-de-predicate structure can bedivided into two types——verb and adjective. The article focuses on the comparative analysis ofthe Subject-predicate structure and Subject-de-predicate structure whose predicate part areconstituted of verbs and adjectives. According to the semantic relation of the two kinds ofstructures, there are agentive+action, patient+action, tool+action, place+action, time+action, subject+nature.Syntactically, Subject-predicate structure can act as a variety of syntacticconstituents, including subject, predicate, object, attribute, adverbial, complement. But thesyntactic function of Subject-de-predicate structure is not so strong which just acts as the subjectand object. And the proportion of being object is larger. Therefore, this paper focuses on thecomparative analysis of the two structures when they act as subjects and objects.Subject-predicate structure and Subject-de-predicate structure are semantically equivalent, butin form, they are the different forms of phrases, and the results of sentences downgrading.
