Martial film is a genre film owned by China particularly, which has become one ofthe nation genre films’ identifies, like American Westerns. It has interpreted the Chinesepeople’s martial arts dream in a distinct artistic way, showing the martial spirit desiredby Chinese people under the group unconsciousness. The ambition that one should actwhen he need to act is the enduring dream in every Chinese person’s heart. The heroism theme preached by martial movie makes two elements including“violence presented” and “violent digestion” become necessary on the imageexpression essentially. The side of justice is bound to achieve counterattack against evilwith violence in order to promote a moral cognition that all evil is not pressure.Uncontrolled violence cannot be reasonable exist at any time even if the side of justicepunishes the evil with violence. Violence must exist together with a variety of methodsof dispelling violence. And simply rendering the violence is not the task of martial films. So, how to render the cruelty of violence with art techniques and make the behavior ofovercoming violence with violence more acceptable while necessary violence is showedis the martial films’ mission. The film is an art developing along with the times. And its extensivemanifestations undergoes tremendous change accompanied with time. Only bettercombination between films’ theory and practice can play the role of guiding cognition.Although the previous studies are professional and abundant, the weakness is thelimitation on time. Throughout the development history and the diverse expressionforms of martial films, it can be seen that the violence’s digestion styles are various. Inthe new century, the expression forms of martial films have been changed greatly. Theforms of “force” have altered on a large scale especially because of the filmmakers’diverse artistic processes and increasingly sophisticated digital technologies. As a result, the change is taking place from previous intuitive body movements that “one will actdepending on others’ acts” to the dance moves teemed with images.Along with the occurrence of a variety of forms of violence digestion, the violenceof the martial actions in a martial movie arts is gradually digested, which leads to anembarrassing problem that the lack of “force” makes “heroism” be dispelled. Ifthe “force” is the form, the “heroism” should be the body. As the form is changed, will the “heroism culture” also be changed virtually or not? On the other hand, because of the filmmakers’ deeper philosophical reflection and modern civilization’scollision, the “heroism” in the martial movie also can be understood in different ways. When the “heroism” is questioned or digested to some degree, is the change of itsmanifestations in the aspect of diversity more responsive to the historical trend?...
