Research On The Semantic Features、Textual Characteristics And Grammaticalization Of " NáNWéI"

This paper does some research on semantic features、 syntactic features、grammaticalization and textual functions of “Nánwéi”.Chapter one is preface, we make it clear about what had already done by otherpeople, research contents、meaning、methods and corpus sources of this paper.Chapter two is the classification and semantic changes of “Nánwéi”. We considerthat there are two parts of speech of “Nánwéi”: one is verb, the other one is adverb.According to semantic and syntactic standards, We classify “Nánwéi” into fiveconcrete ones, including “Nánwéi1”、“Nánwéi2”、“Nánwéi3”、“Nánwéi4” and“Nánwéi5”, among them,“Nánwéi1”、“Nánwéi2” and “Nánwéi4” are verbs, while“Nánwéi3” and “Nánwéi5” are adverbs. From “Nánwéi1” to “Nánwéi5”,intersubjectivisation is the fundamental reason that causes “Nánwéi” to have such asemantic change.Chapter three is the process and mechanism of grammaticalization of “Nánwéi”.The process of grammaticalization starts from Yuan dynasty ends in ROC(1919-1949). Verb “Nánwéi” appears in Yuan dynasty, from Min dynasty,“Nánwéi”begins to grammaticalize into an adverb, in Qing dynasty and ROC (1919-1949),“Nánwéi” has a further development and improvement, therefore, it gets the meaningthat can show kindness and politeness of the speaker or even conveys irony. Themechanism of its grammaticalization can be separated into two parts: the deep oneand the surface one. Conceptual integration is the deep mechanism, which causessyntactic change of “Nánwéi”, making the following components change fromnominal to clause. Meanwhile, the promotion of the frequency of use, the influence of disyllabification, reanalysis and analogy are the surface mechanisms.Chapter four is the textual functions of adverb “Nánwéi”. The cohesion type ofadverb “Nánwéi” in text is comprehensive inference, it usually appears at thebeginning of a sentence or clause, coordinates with other adverbs or conjunctionssometimes. What’s more, it connects rheme and theme, make the text look morecoherent and consistent.Chapter five is a conclusion towards the whole paper, we will point outshortcomings and drawbacks as well.
