"x + Through" And "bad" X + Comparative Study

Verb-complement structure is a unique sentence structure in Chinese. In many foreign languages, like English, there are no verb-complement structure except object-complement and subject-complement. Verb-complement structure is also a complex structure for its simplification, for example,"Wo Chi Bao Le"="Wo Chi"+"Wo Bao Le". Therefore, verb-complement structure is always a teaching difficulty in Teaching Chinese for Foreigners. This paper chooses two words,"Tou" and "Huai", which is similar in usage, to compare when they are used as complements. The comparison will be made from three aspects, that is syntax、semantic and historic plane. The paper consists of preface、main body and conclusion.The preface mainly introduces the origin for the research, reviews briefly the existing situation of the research, describes the intention、methods、signs and corpus sources of the research.Chapter Ⅰ discusses from semantic aspect:1. According to semantic,"X+Tou" is divided into"Toul"、"Tou2"、"Tou3".So it is with "X+Huai". Compare "Huai" with "Tou" as complements and discuss their similarities and differences.2. Semantic features of "X" in "X+Tou" and "X+Huai"are analyzed. Similarities and differences are also discussed.3. The direction of the meaning of "Tou" and "Huai" as complements are analyzed and compared.Chapter Ⅱ discusses from syntax aspect:1. The syntactic features of the "X+Tou". Investigate the structural features of "X+Tou", the classification of "X+Tou", the conversion of "X+Tou", the structural function of "X+Tou" and the adverbial of "X+Tou" 2. The syntactic features of the "X+Huai".Compared with "X+Tou", investigate the structural features of "X+Huai", the classification of "X+Huai", the conversion of "X+Huai", the structural function of "X+Huai" and the adverbial of "X+Huai".ChapterⅢ discusses from evolution aspect:1. The evolution of the "X+Tou" is discussed. The process is such as:two verbs�'verb-complement�'verb-degree�'a word.2. The evolution of the "X+Huai" is discussed. The process is such as:two verbs�'verb-complement�'verb-degree�'a word.3. The evolutions of the "X+Tou"、."X+Huai" are compared and their deriving conditions and motivations of Grammaticalization are analyzed.The last chapter summarizes the main contents of the paper, points out the shorts of the paper and the issues which need to be studied further.
