A Practice Report Of Liaison Interpreting

This thesis is a practice report on liaison interpreting. Accompanied by the author asan interpreter, a French businessman visited Manas winery of CITIC Guoan andconducted business communication and negotiation. In this thesis, the authorparticularly analyses the interpreting skills applied in the essential parts ofnegotiation.This report is divided into four parts. The first section is a brief introduction ofthe interpreting task. The second part is the description of the whole process,including preparations before the task, specific cases in the task and post-tasksummary. The third section is the most important part of this thesis in that it analysessix interpreting tactics the author applied in the interpreting and believed to be themost crucial approaches to effective and smooth communication. The last part is aconclusion on the whole report.In this thesis, the author mainly discusses the interpreting skills used in businessnegotiation. However, there are lots of problems occurred in the interpreting processdue to inexperience. It is the author’s sincere hope that this report can provide somereferences for new interpreters in real practice so as to better promote businessnegotiation.
