Currently, there are still some problems existing in the higher vocational Englishteaching, such as the weak of English basic knowledge, no interests in English,low efficiency problems in English teaching. however, the main positions of highervocational students gaining English knowledge is in an English classroom, the mainorganization form of English teaching is classroom teaching. Therefore, how toimprove the effect of classroom teaching is very important. There is an old sayingsays that "well begun is half done," Lead-in, the initial link of English classroomteaching, is an essential part in higher vocational education. The effects of lead-inshould not be underestimated, although it costs little time and small proportion.However, the investigation showed that the frequency of the use of classroom lead-inin the higher vocational English class is very low, most teachers often use the simplelead-in method to teaching, that will lead in the looming classroom atmosphere, andthe students have no interest in learning English. Because of this, the author tries fromthe source of the classroom teaching-----"lead-in" to start with a view to improvingEnglish teaching effectiveness.The author discovered through reading a large number of documents that therewas little research on the lead-in in the higher vocational English teaching, most ofthe research on lead-in methods remained on the experience level. Whether theeffectiveness of lead-in methods was worth drawing was still needed to verify. Inview of this, the author based on the characteristics of higher vocational students andthe particularity of higher vocational English teaching, summaried a variety oflead-in meads for the higher vocational students. The research objects are two parallelClass1and Class2students in public career management in Xi’an urban arcticturehigher vocational school. The author teached the Class2(the experimental class)students using the variety of lead-in methods and the Class1(the control class)students not using lead-in method or using the simple method, and used questionnaireinvestigation, Classroom observations and individual interview methods to test the effectiveness of using lead-in methods, and eventually came to the conclusion: Theusing of various lead-in methods in the higher vocational English teaching can attractstudents’ attention, active the classroom atmosphere, inspire the learning interests,improve students’ communicative ability, promote the affection between teachers andstudents, improve the students English comprehensive English ability, and improvestudents’ English achievements.
