Thesis Statements Forum on Literature of Speech in Yan’an (hereinafter referred toas Speech), made by Mao Zedong in the liberated area—Yan’an cannot be ignored in thehistory of literary trends in the twentieth century. The influence of it has far-reaching thefield of contemporary literature. Speech as a literary program, its creative ideas onrealism and principles has an intrinsic association with the literary trends of each periodin the twentieth century. Chinese literature in the twentieth century has bade farewell tothe stage of history, and the literature era under the influence of Speech has also gone,but academic research on the intersection between the Speech and the literary tends in thetwentieth century never diminished. However, it provided us a foothold to make a furtherin-depth analysis, because of lacking a series of studies on the relationship betweenSpeech and the whole realism literary trends in the twentieth century, from a combinationwith macro and micro point view.This paper has three sections including introduction, body and conclusion. Theintroduction gives a brief statement about the important position of Mao’s Speech inChinese Contemporary Literature and tease out the research status of Speech as a wholein the field of critics in order to find the blind points of the present research between theChinese realism literary trends in the twentieth century and the Realism CreativePrinciple established by Speech.The body mainly analyzes the intrinsic association from two different aspectsbetween Speech and the Chinese realism literary trends in the twentieth century from the perspective of the history on criticism. The first part focus on studying the nationalization,popular realism literature trends, and Enlightenment realism of ’’for life’’ in the MayFourth Movement, analytical realism in1930s, inheritance and development tendenciesof critical realism literary trends on shaping characters, objective realism and creativetendencies in Kuomintang-controlled areas1940s from these three creative tendency: thedirection of ’’art for the workers, peasants and services’’, creative methods of ’’in-depthlife’’, and ’’exposure’’ and ’’praise’’. The second part mainly states that because the Speechoccupied the ’’only’’status before the new era of contemporary literary, the realisticliterature trends at this stage can only be subject to the bondage of the Speech, evenreduced to ’’the combination between revolutionary realism and revolutionaryromanticism’’ named ’’pseudo-realism’’ in the ’’Cultural Revolution’’. However, that is aninevitable result of the spiritual development of the Speech.The emergence of the newrealism literary trends, especially the "new realism" because breaking irrational situationof the "Seventeen Years’ Literature" and "Cultural Revolution Literature" in the creativeprocess of realism. It can be concluded that "the new realism "literary trends has realizethe inheritance of the Speech in the process of rebellion. The conclusion gives a generalstatement of the relationship between the Speech and Chinese realism literary trends inthe twentieth century, and the practical significance in current literature.
