Bouyei nationality is the most representative one of the National Minorities inGuizhou province. In the long-term production of labor and social struggles,Bouyei people, with their own industry and wisdom, have created not only rich material wealth, but alsoenduring spiritual culture. The large variety of folklores in Guizhou Bouyei nationality is atreasury which embodies the ecological diversity. Based on various literature texts, thispaper intends to explore the ideological roots of ecological thoughts, and the naturalecological consciousness and social ecological consciousness within those literatures;meanwhile, it analyses the modern revelation of Bouyei folklores from the perspective ofeco-criticism.Chapter One analyses the ideological roots of ecological awareness in Bouyeifolk literatures. First the paper discusses the Bouyei conception of nature bred in Bouyeicreation myth, and then analyses Bouyei people’s cognition and attitude toward everythingin the world in the original state. We can see from Bouyei folk literature that there isanimism in primitive worship of Bouyei nationality embodies, that’s to say, they believeeverything is intelligential, so ancient ancestors show reverence toward nature.Chapter Twodiscusses ecological awareness in Bouyei folk literature mainly from two perspectives: thenatural ecological consciousness and social ecological consciousness.Chapter Threediscusses the reflection of Bouyei folk literature on modern literature. Modern people’sfeelings of “homelessness” awaken their “homeland consciousness”. At the same timeBouyei folk literatures have created “divine” nature. In their opinions, natural phenomenonlike thunder, sun, moon, and natural objects like land are embodiment of “gods”, and theyworship nature as they long for blessing of natural gods which in turn will help humanbeings bountifully. As a result, human beings and nature coexist harmoniously.
