"的" is the most common structure of utterances word in Chinese, and basicallyevery sentence will appear. In the process of English-Chinese translation, because ofthe improper using of "的", it will appear some sentence that is not in conformity withthe Chinese expression habit. In Chinese,"的" has its own rules, not just in terms ofgrammar, but also in the aspect of pragmatics, Besides, English also has its translationrules. In addition, the number of "的" in a sentence is limited, when we translate fromEnglish to Chinese, if we follow the express habits of the two languages, it willappear a lot of long obscure translation because of"的".In this paper, we study on the structure of "的"using rules. Starting from theoriginal English study, combining with Chinese, this article is divided into three parts:The first part includes the predecessors’ research review, research purpose, research significance, research methods, etc.The second part, we study the category of "的" from the perspective ofcontrastive in English-Chinese translation. This part focuses on the "的" that is notcome into the sentence and influenced by the pragmatic and so on. Firstly, we have abrief overview of the Chinese ontology"的" from the perspective of attributivecomponents. Then find out the word expression that is same to "的" in English, all ofthe possible situations is divided into three categories: English noun modifying theheadword, Pre modified adjectives modifying the headword, Postpositive adjectivesmodifying the headword. We believe that these three classes and Chinese "的" have acorresponding relationship. So we have three sections to find out the correspondingrules with the "nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, of word number of words". Webelieve that, in Chinese, the rules of using "的" and the corresponding rules betweenEnglish and Chinese all limit the using of "的" when we translate from English toChinese. The third part is focused on the rules of "的" that is coming into the sentences, affected by the syntax, semantics, pragmatics and other aspects. The first part is studyof best using quantity of "de" word in English-Chinese translation articles. At first,we make the analysis of the clause modifier with "de" word through scientific articles, political articles, literature articles and interviews articles. Then we statistic outrespectively the quantity contains1"的",2"的",3"的",4"的". We think that thesentence expression is most acceptable when the using quantity of "de"≤2(best for1)in one clause. When the sentence has too many ingredients, people will convert thesentential form to express. The quantity of "de" is not only determined by stylisticreasons, but also the influence of multiple attribute.
