Since the beginning of the20th century, bamboo scripts excavated has significantly influenced thecontemporary calligraphy of China. The executive summary introduces the bamboo script and itshistory development. The main body consists of Seal Character and Clerical Script, Regular andSemi-cursive Script, and Cursive Script, respectively, describing different effects on thecontemporary calligraphy by bamboo scripts, along with the current calligraphers’ styles. Firstly,Seal Character and Clerical Script has been studied from style, structure and pattern according todifferent areas such as Chu State, Qin State and Han Dynasty. Regular and Semi-cursive script hasbeen studied from process of development. Secondly, I study cursive script from two differentbeginnings, West Han and East Han and furthermore, find out it affecting the contemporarycalligraphy of Zhangcao and Tie Xue cursive script. Therefore, it aims to discover the intrinsicvalues of bamboo scripts, to analyse the forms of manners of the contemporary calligraphy, and toexplore some revelations.
