Neolithic archaeological culture in Gansu and Qinghai area mainly Majiayao cultureand Qijia culture, and found a lot of tombs and preserve a relatively intact human bones.The tomb is the very good material on gender issues, having a unique advantage for ourstudy of male and female social relationships and role. After identifying the sex of theowners of the tombs, we can by way of burial in the material remains and burial wereanalyzed, and the intuitive understanding of the social status of men and women, roleassignment, and the relationship between each other. This article attempts to make apreliminary study on the tomb burial custom of gender of the two neolithic archaeologicalculture from a perspective of gender archeology, thus to reflect social life and the systemfor further discussion.This article has been published materials on the basis of the grave, mainly usingstatistics and quantitative analysis method, to the12can clear identification of gender inthe cemetery of487adult single tombs and56adult men and women tombs is byquantitative analysis, comprehensive study burials reflect gender difference.This article main content is divided into three parts:First, to sort out the main burial materials of the Majiayao culture and the Qijiaculture period, and screen out the tombs that can be clearly identify gender.Second, to analyze gender variance of the Single burials in adult men and womenand adult men and women people respectively, this is the main part of this article.Analysis the gender variance of adult single tombs mainly from three aspects ofburial scale and burial objects and burial objects of human bones.The analysis of the adult men and women people is mainly from buried with theusage of the difference of the funeral and burial objects of human bones in men andwomen and put the location of the burial objects. Analysis found that: the adult men andwomen people in Majiayao culture is basically same, it did not show significant genderdifferences in the burial form and burial objects; but in the Qijia culture the Men’s andwomen’s gender difference is obvious, the male status is significantly higher than female.Finally in this paper, through the analysis of gender difference in Qinghai and Gansu area neolithic burials, can spy on its social system, division of labor and funeral customs.
