| Backwash usually refers to the effect of the tests have on language teaching andlearning. In recent years, more and more Indonesian have taken part in HSKexamination. So in order to find out the backwash of the written test of HSK and helpto improve the Chinese teaching in Indonesia, the author developed an empiricalstudy while teaching in Indonesia.Questionnaire, interview and data analysis wereapplied in this research. The following points are focused in this empirical research.Firstly, how does the backwash of HSK work on Chinese teaching in Indonesia?Secondly, what kind of positive backwash and negative backwash will HSK have onChinese teaching in Indonesia? Thirdly, what will affect the intensity of new HSK’sbackwash. Fourthly, how to make use of new HSK’s backwash to improve Chineseteaching in Indonesia. The result turns out that new HSK has not disturbed thenormal Chinese teaching in Indonesia. It affects the content of teaching and the timeof teaching rather than the way of teaching. Similarly, it has an influence on thecontent of leaning and the time of learning but as for the way of learning, theinfluence is not obvious. The HSK has both positive backwash and negativebackwash on Chinese teaching in Indonesia. And the intensity of the backwash isaffected by a lot of factors, such as the content of the HSK itself, teachers, students,the society and so on. On the whole, HSK’s positive backwash is stronger than thenegative backwash. And we can control the negative backwash and make the best useof the positive backwash to improve the Chinese teaching in Indonesia through thegovernment,school teachers and students. |
