Chinese is extremely rich in idioms. Chinese idioms are the essence ofChinese vocabularies. Idiom is a popular form of language expression, because of itselegant style, meaning deep, is widely used in written language; because of its conciseand highly expressive, accepted by rich colloquial English. This paper puts thelearning idioms and the knowledge idioms of Chinese as the research object oflearning and the theory of conceptual metaphor as a guide. With detailed analysis,study, sorting and induction, we can explore its mapping model, understand themetaphor mechanism. It can not only provide innovative space and a whole new lightfor the learning idioms and the knowledge idioms of Chinese, but also bring us adeeper understanding of learning concept in Chinese traditional education ideas. Thishas a positive significance to the development of our future generations.This paper consists of four parts. The first chapter explains the research content,research status review, theoretical basis, research methods, the source of corpus andthe value of the research of this topic to interpretation of the thesis. The second chapterdescribes metaphor category of the learning idioms and the knowledge idioms ofChinese. First, we define the learning idioms and the knowledge idioms of Chinese. Itcan establish a clearer range and provide a clear target for our future research.Secondly, according to the literal meaning of the learning idioms and the knowledgeidioms of Chinese, we divide the source and target domains. The third chapter focuseson the mapping modes of the learning idioms and the knowledge idioms of Chinese.Through the analysis and summary, we find the characteristics and the basis ofmetaphorical mapping of the learning idioms and the knowledge idioms of Chinese.And we can explore the conceptual metaphors. The fourth chapter discusseshumanistic concerns which involve national culture, simple cognitive style andtraditional values.
