Translation Report On The Three General Introductions Of Annotations Of Selected Peony Poems In History

With the development of our country’s economy, the domestic propaganda andtranslation for traditional Chinese culture have become more and more popular. Withtraditional HeLuo peony culture as the carrier, by means of translating the history ofpeony culture and its connotation, this study aims at foreign propaganda of HeLuoculture, and to inherit and promote peony culture in a deeper and wider range.This report is based on a material chosen from Annotations of Selected PeonyPoems in History. The book is a collection of peony poems and is divided into threevolumes. The overview parts at the beginning of each volume introduce peony cultureand its development. The author of this paper translated the three overview parts ofthis book under the guidance of Skopos theory, to promote foreign visitors’understanding of peony culture.After translating, the author summarized this process into the following aspects,such as the preparing work before translation, the guidance of translation theory,problems the author encountered during the process, and the methods she used to solvethe problems. In this report, the author selected17examples, to illustrate thedifficulties she encountered, the process and the skills of translation from differentperspectives. During this process, the author sums up the experience and translationskills she learned from the practice, which will help the author in the future translationwork.
