The Research Of The Modern Chinese Dictinary’s Word-collection(6thedition)

The sixth edition of the modern Chinese dictionary published in June2012wasrevised in such aspects as the word-collection,definition,given examples based on thefifth edition and reflects the modern Chinese vocabulary more comprehensively andaccurately.Modern Chinese dictionary is the authoritative and normative modeldictionary so the revision of the sixth edition will help to explore the new path ofdevelopment of modern Chinese vocabulary,at the same time can also to perfect thetheory of dictionary and promote dictionary practice to provide some reference.Thispaper’s main research object is the word-collection,it investigates what the sixth editiondid to the fifth edition in word-collection of adding,deleting,changing comprehensively,and then combining with a large number of instances to do the classification research,discussing the reason of changing and evaluating its rights and wrongs.First chapter is the introduction part,first introduced the general characteristics of thepredecessors’ study of modern Chinese dictionary,classification and description ofvocabulary,definition,example and annotation of research results.And then a briefintroduction to the topic basis of the article selected,value of research,scope of research,ideas and methods.The second chapter is the main part,compared the sixth edition of the modernChinese dictionary with the fifth edition in the differences of the word-collection.Doingthe classification research of increased words and reduced words through a large numberof examples.Analysing the reason of adding or deleting from the nature of significance,wording theories and the frequency of using,and discussing the principle of the modernChinese dictionary’s word-collection from the view of combining theory with practice.The third chapter mainly discussed the sixth edition of the modern Chinesedictionary’s omissions in the aspects of word-collection and the definition,with thecomparison of the second edition of modern Chinese standard dictionary.To demonstratewords and definition which should be rivised by the methods of giving examples andexplaining.In order to take care of the consistency of content,the discussion of thedefinition’s omissions was put as the appendix part open for reference.Last conclusion，summarizing the sixth edition of the dictionary of modern Chinesevocabulary’s achievements in revision.Besides,on the basis of so many deficiency stillexists, we propose several opinions and suggestions to make it better.
