A Corpus-based Study On The Added New Words In Modern Chinese Dictionary(7^th Edition)

Modern Chinese Dictionary is a well-written,widely spread,moderate-scale,scientific and practical language reference book,playing an extremely important role in the language life of our country.In 2016,the dictionary published the 7th edition and added 387 new words.It is a concrete embodiment of the dictionary's compilation ideas that keep pace with the times and care about language changes.This article takes 387 new words as research objects and analyzes and discusses from the following aspects.In the first part,statistics and explanations are mainly made on the basic situation of new words.It mainly examines the ways to increase income,the number of syllables,and the classification of words and phrases.The methods for increasing the income of newly added words mainly include new entries,replacement of old ones,single subtotals,item differentiation,and mainly new entries.In terms of the distribution of syllables,words are mainly composed of two syllables and three syllables.The parts of speech are mainly nouns and verbs,and the verbs are the most.The phrases mainly include idioms,proper nouns,specialized words and conventional phrases.The second part examines the categories and sources of new words.Words main categories: Mandarin self-produced words,dialect words,foreign words,old words and abbreviated words.Among them,self-produced words are mainly spoken in Putonghua.From the point of view of new word sources,there are four main categories: national macro-policy language,important historical events and special names,classic idioms,and new words generated in recent years.Words added to this dictionary have been used in recent years.The emerging new words are dominated.In the third part,it discusses the principle of lexicon receiving.It mainly includes the principle of universality,stability,vitality,normative and systemic principle.These five principles are the basic principles and the five most important ones.Based on these five principles,and based on the principle of universality,this article combines the “Founder ApabiChinese newspaper resource full-text database” “Beijing Language and Culture University BCC Chinese Corpus” and discusses the existence of several lexical issues in the dictionary,and gives some suggestions at the end.
