This is a translation report for chapter3of Language, meaning and the Law by Professor Chris Hutton. Language, meaning and the Law is a composition which conjoins the linguistic meaning and legal language, to explains the language from the perspective of jurisprudence, which is of great technicality and direction. Through the translation of this book, the anthor discusses and analyzes the translation methods of academic translation, and summarizes the experiences gained from the translation parictice.The report consists of four parts:(1)Introduction to translation project, including project background, objectives and significance.(2)A brief introduction to the background of original text, including the author and main contents.(3)Difficulties and methodologies, the focal chapter of preparations, difficulties and methodologies applied and specific examples to show author’s thought.(4)Conclusions including the experiences and lessons from the project and limitation of the study.
