There were many studies about effects of animations on the socialization of children, butthis paper has its own structure.Firstly, this paper defines animation and the socialization of children. Animation isdefined as the movie picture which is shot through one picture to another. The socialization ofchildren is defined as a social education and individual internalization process, through whichcan development ones’ sociality. There are some relationships between animations and thesocialization of children. Secondly, the writer of this paper has done some empiricalinvestigations between the children who are in the fourth grade to the sixth grade inChongQing. The investigation contents include four parts: children’s using model ofanimations, children’s copying behaviors of animations, and animations’ effects on children’soccupational values and the socialization of sex. Through these empirical investigations, thepaper will put the traditional studies of socialization out of utopian society. Finally, the paperuses the socialization theory of mass media as the theory foundation to explain the essencesand the regular patterns, which behind the data of investigations. The study conclusionsincluding follows:Animations can affect the socialization of children. The investigation conclusions showthat children in our country watch animations universally; they learn something sociality fromanimations and some children’s occupational values are affected by animations directly. At thesame time, stereotypes are existence in animations. In other words, animations can affect thesocialization of children.Two approaches effected the socialization of children by animations are found. Oneapproach is that children realize their socialization through using objective existenceanimations and internalizing the social contents which show on animations. However, thesocial contents, now, like behavior, attitude, values, ethics, character and personality, areshort-term and temporary. Another approach is that children realize their socialization throughusing objective existence animations and internalizing the social contents which show onanimations, some objective factors solidify the process above. In theory, the second approachis more solid and more chronic. Besides, the study also finds that, when animations affect thesocialization of children, a system of society is working in essence.Revelations for animation produced are found. The study finds that the more entertainment animations are, the more attentions children pay to; the more justice and majormale roles in animation, the more identity children give; the more educational in animation,the easier to stimulate the socialization of children. So, let animations stimulate the children’ssocialization through the process of children’s watching animations, the entertainment,particulars and justice roles in animations should be pay attention to when produce animations.At the same time, the social responsibilities of animations are important as well.
