Virginia Rometty, IBM’s global chief executive, once said that in the past, consumers had been satisfied in group, but they would be satisfied one after another in the future, which suggests that market demand is increasingly personalized, differentiated and diversified. Meanwhile, nowadays, in the wake of economic development, men, who are allowed more chances to attend a formal occasion, expect to show their own taste, class and life attitude by means of clothes. However, man’s ready-to-wear market has long been unable to cater to their psychological demand. For this reason, custom-made suit industry has evolved into the luxury dressing style that is gradually accepted by market.In this study, an analysis is made on the development history and status of custom-made suit industry at home and abroad by means of literature review and field research, finding that China’s custom-made suit industry experiences a late start and highlights workmanship and quality, without paying much attention to brand image. In the fierce market competition, attractive window design can not only display merchandise and covey relevant merchandise information in a perfect way, but also build a brand image and enhance market competitiveness to stimulate consumption and increase sales volume. In China, however, custom-made industry attaches little importance to window design. Thus, the author expects to provide inspirations for the window design practice of domestic custom-made suit brands by dint of this study.Through analyzing the particularity of custom-made suit brand and its embodiment in window design according to the research thinking that theoretical research guides design practice, the author sums up three methods of window design appropriate for custom-made suit brands, including inspiration source of window theme, design principle, and the application of design methods. Finally, these methods have finally guided author’s practical operations. It is proved that not only are these methods of bright application prospect in China’s custom-made suit industry, but they offer referential design methods and theoretical support for the design practice of custom-made suit industry.
