The Study Of Li Ling’s Literary Image From Han To Song Dynasty

Li Ling is a typical surrendered general, he is an official who retains hisposition after capitulating to Xiong Nu, however he is still a hero who can getpeople’s sympathy. As the beginning of "Historical Records"(written by Si Maqian)and "Han Shu "(written by Ban Gu), the story of Li Ling is accepted diach ronicallyby people, and the story of Li Ling is gradually accumulated as a rich aestheticmeaning of literary works. Li Ling’s literary image become a part of the history ofliterature. From Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty, there are so many poets to composeand recite considerable poems to express Li Ling’s story. Some of them are masters.There are all kinds of styles as in form, and there are different emphasis in differentpoems. It not only reflects the literaty’ spirit under different historical environment,but also analysis the Li Ling’s literary image deeply.Literaty accept Li Ling’s image for about two clues: the literature of Liling and the history of Li ling. The former based on Historical Records and HanShu, giving a vivid description of Li Ling’s brave grace and surrendered generalpersonalities. The following generation use this set as a starting point, some feelsorry for Li Ling’s sorrow experience under tragic circumstances, some feel an gryfor Li Ling’s submission which insulted our country, and someone criticize EmperorWu di and powerful ministers can not distinguish between right and wrong. A largenumber of historical figures exist in the poetries and articles which in the associatedwith Li Ling also has appeared,such as Su Wu, Li Guang, Emperor Wu di, Wei Qing,Huo Qubing and Li Guangli and so on. The latter begins with Su Wu and Li Ling’spoems from Late Han dynasty, focused on writing the depression of farewell. LiLing’s image turns to be literatization, and his stories lay a foundation for thesubjects of farewell to friends, homesickness and defending the frontier or wars.Being associated with Li Ling’s literaty, writer shows great sympathy and regret tohim, the poems of Li Ling, the hearts of Li Ling and the monument of Li Lingbecome the topics to recited by literaty. Due to the differences in background,personal experience and value orientation of literati, Li Ling’s literary imagerepresented different periods of art and life feelings of literaty, so literaty’s attitudesto Li Ling are also obviously not the same.In this paper, I take the time as the key link to discuss four aspects: HistoricalRecords and Han Shu, the literary world of Late Han to Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, and Song Dynasty, especially focus on Li Ling’s literature image description indifferent historical stages, and I also want to discuss the writer’s psychologicalexperience in writing. All in all, I am able to show the developing process of thischaracter, to see the ancient intellectuals’ value orientation and to understand thespirit of them, and to explore the attitude of literati how to treat the Confucian ritualguides and minority regime.
