This paper is made from the perspective of philosophy of art, with insights on some ofLingNan Gardens, LingNan School of Paintings combining with study on LingNan localculture, to have a full dissecting on the common art features and essence of LingNan Gardensand LingNan School of Painting.There are lots of common features in between LingNan Gardens and LingNan School ofPainting. And the factors attribute to these phenomena are complicated: most of designersfor Chinese ancient gardens are artists in painting, regional differences in culture, climate,times revolution, technological revolution, regional characteristics, human natures,convictions,mental activities and etc.Cultivated by above complicated factors, both LingNan Gardens and LingNan School ofPainting not only emerge in a unique style by itself, but also unfold interconnection with eachother, which provide great space for study. However, there are relatively fewer documents orliteratures specialized in studying common features in between LingNan Gardens andLingNan School of Painting. It is even rare to see any practices or arguments to support theabstract theories in these aspects. What’s more, most of analysis is constrained by thescholar-bureaucrat standard on esthetics.
