The Exploration Of Xue Fengzuo’s Scientific Interaction Between China And West Thought

The sixteenth and seventeenth century is both a political volatility between Ming dynasty and early qing period, and the name of the missionaries and academic communication period of religion. In such a complex background, Chinese people in different classes have a completely opposite attitude when they confront west learning.In this period, china not only have government officials like Xun Guangqi who baptized into the Christian faith and learn knowledges from preachers, and have Emperors such as Kangxi who have skeptical attitude and want to take advantage of west knowledges, even some people like Xue Fengzuo,who is just an traditional intellectual but have an objective sober attitude towards western fresh culture. He tried his best to "combines sides of the material into a model what I want to made", and make integration between China and west.Scholars in China and western have more attentions on China and west culture of late Ming dynasty, and they also have made lot of contributions in people’s scientific idea. On contrary, due to various reasons, scholars attentions to the first man who introduce Copernican heliocentric theory and bring in the logarithm at the beginning of the qing dynasty in China and other series of outstanding contribution scientists research is very weak, the academic study of Xue Fengzuo is focus on his academic contribution, few scholars put Xue Fengzuo’s academic interaction between China and the West in the scientific development of China and west science of practice and results.As a representative of technology knowledge interaction of China and west between Ming dynasty and early qing, family, teachers, social intercourse, west people have impact on the formation and development of him. His mind in many areas such as astronomy, mathematics, mechanics, military flare the buds of scientific thought. The degree of his understanding of the western knowledge is better than many contemporaries, his spiritual temperament is fits into the theory of Merton. The purpose of this paper is hoping through the origin of the scientific integration of China and west, the practice and evaluation to his appraise to reveal his position in the history, so as to make objective evaluation on its, and then briefly discusses the relationship between science and the Confucianism.
