A Report On Interpreting At Shandong-Georgia Economic And Trade Fair From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

According to Skopos Theory, translation strategies and methods are determined by the purpose of translation activity. This translation report takes interpretation for Shandong-Georgia Economic and Trade Fair as an example to elaborate how to interpret under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. Skopos Theory believes that, in the process of translation, interpreters should combine specific contextual factors with expected functions of the translation, and select the best way to deal with the source text.The author had previously used translation theory as the guidance of interpreting practice. However, the combination of translation theory and interpreting practice was far from systematic and tight. This time, Skopos Theory was employed by the author consciously in the process of interpreting. As a consequence, expericence of choosing translation strategy was accumulated during the business interpreting. Translation strategies directed by Skopos Theory and deep analysis of specific examples were also concluded afterwards.The conclusion of this report is meaningful to related interpreting research; nevertheless, deficiencies exist. Further study is encouraged.
