The sentence acquisition is the hot spot in Chinese as a second language acquisition. The law of SLA, the characters of acquisition of sentences and the better learning contents and order will be seen through the study of sentences acquisition. The research on distribution, acquisition order, developmental sequence and error analysis of the Chinese sentences will improve the efficient teaching strategy, the more suitable language syllabus and teaching materials. The inadequate research in acquisition order and developmental sequence study shows:1.The target language is not Chinese.2. The amount of samples is not abundant.3. The static results of the domestic study don’t match the dynamic syntax system. There are few researches on Chinese sentence error analysis of American learners. So, the aim of this thesis is:1.The dynamic distribution of Chinese sentences in the Chinese composition corpus of students from United States of America.2. The acquisition order and developmental sequence of American students and the comparison with other research.3. The analysis of the errors and the characters of the American students’Chinese sentences. This thesis measures and describes the distribution of12sentence types of Chinese composition corpus of students from United States of America. The compositions are divided into three levels according to the learners’learning period, each level is treated as three phases according to the time sequence. Thanks to the range in the former research, the sentences of12Chinese sentences (T1-T12) are studied. The distribution, acquisition order and developmental sequence are measured and described with the correct sentences, while the characteristic is also analyzed with the error analysis. The frequency analysis on sentences in each phase and each level measures and describes the sentence distribution. The unevenness in the low level is obvious, T1and T3are used excessively; In the middle level and high level, with the increase of other sentences, the unevenness is less obvious. The developmental sequence of the sentences is measured with three criterions through frequency analysis:The acquisition will be accomplished if the certain sentence type meet three standards in nine phases and three levels. The unevenness of the developmental sequences shows that T1, T3, T6and T11are accomplished rather earlier, meanwhile T4is unawake in this research. The coherence of acquisition orders is proved by comparison with the other researches although the resources of materials, the means and methods in research are different. Some slight difference, especially in T5and T10, in the acquisition speed and phase of one level are allowable due to the different first language, different resources and different groups. The characteristic of the sentences is obvious during the acquisition of12sentence types of contemporary Chinese for the students from United States of America through the error analysis, negative transfer of mother tongue is the essential reason.
