Research On Anthology Of Xikun Responsories And Xikun Poetry Faction From The Perspective Of Taoism And Taoist

During the period named Jingde and Dazhongxiangfu of Emperor Zhenzong in Song Dynasty, the poets in Imperial Academy wrote poetry while they compiled one encyclopedia named Cefuyuangui. Anthology of Xikun Responsories, as the responsorial poem collection by them, indicates the formation of Xikun Poetry Faction, one of the most important poetry faction of early Song Dynasty. So there is a closed relation between Xikun Poetry Faction and Taoism, Taoists. On one hand, Xikun Poetry Faction come into being during the time the Emperor Zhenzong advocates Taoism. And those who do responsorial poem mostly take part in religionary activities sponsored by Zhenzong and some of them play an important role in it. On the other hand, filled with anecdotes and images of Taoism and Taoists, it presents a panorama of legendary stories of Taoism. Imperial Academy also has its own discoursing system which has distinctive feature and long history. Looking from there own poem, the poets of Xikun Poetry Faction are also closely related to the Taoism and Taoists. Meanwhile, the decline of Xikun Poetry Faction is the result of several combined strength., such as the change of the policy of the Taoism, the negative effects of the Ancient Chinese Prose Movement and the internalization of riches and honour by the poets of Post-Xikun Poetry Faction. In a word, from the facets in poets’ activities and contents, Anthology of Xikun Responsories reveals a close relation with Taoism and Taoists. Xikun Poetry Faction, deeply influenced by Taoism and Taoists, is a typical representative of the ancient literary works which have deep religious colour.This thesis takes Anthology of Xikun Responsories and Xikun Poetry Faction as the research objects while comprehensively researching the relationship between Taoist advocation in early Song Dynasty and the poets of Xikun Poetry Faction, the Taoist colour of Anthology of Xikun Responsories, the relation between Taoism, Taoists and the poets of Xikun Poetry Faction, the decline of Xikun Poetry Faction and so on. In the paper, I exert myself to solve three central issues:the roles that Taoism and Taoists play in the whole process of Xikun Poetry Faction, the specific effects of Taoism and Taoists on the poets’ ideologies and poetry art of Xikun Poetry Faction, the anecdotes and images’historical heritage and its significance in the history of poetry.
