It is hard to translate informative texts partly because texts, dictions, sentencepattern, text structure are formal and partly for their expressions are rigorous;emphasizing the accuracy and being rich in meaning. Moreover, revealing the content isas important as keeping the form, which requires preserving the source texts’ meaningand form when it is translated. Thus, the author of this thesis tends to take“communicative translation” as the principle when translating the last chapter of AnIntroduction to Foreign Language Learning and Teaching written by Keith Johnson.This paper includes four parts: the first part is an introduction to the background,objective and significance of this translation program; The second part brieflyintroduces the content of the source text and preparation for this project, and points outmain spirit of “communicative translation" based on the writer’s understanding; Thethird part excerpts several typical cases and analyses them under the guide of"communicative translation" so as to prove its effectiveness and usability; and the lastpart is a conclusion which expresses the writer’s expectation: this paper will be usefulfor translators who tend to translate academic texts.
