This paper focuses particularly on the problems of vocabulary, long sentencesand voices and on how translators translate chapter six of Introducing SecondLanguage Acquisition from the perspective of self-centeredness. There are threecharacters about translator’s subjectivity, which are activity, passivity andself-centeredness. From the aspect of self-centeredness, any translation activity haspurposes. In order to achieve purposes, translators will do their best to solvedifficulties. China has a great number of L2learners, but there are few booksintroducing SLA(second language acquisition) in Chinese, so the aim of translatingIntroducing Second Language Acquisition, published by Foreign Language Teachingand Research Press and Cambridge University Press and written by MurielSaville-Troike, is to provide L2learners with some Chinese references. The writerwho wrote this paper tries to generalize difficulties, translation strategies andtranslation skills so as to help readers understand translation better. IntroducingSecond Language Acquisition belongs to a linguistic text, so the translator should tryto use common words to replace technique terms to help L2learners when translating.
