Text Translation Under The Instruction Of The Theory Of Text Types

This article is a translation report. It focuses on the translation of Chapter13-16(Part) ofGarrets and Pretenders: a History of Bohemianism in America and analysis of the casesrelated to the translation of Bohemianism and sentences of complex structures under theinstruction of the theory of text types because there is no Chinese version of the book, usingthe principles of the theory of text types, proper translation skills and methods could ensurethe accuracy and readability of the translation. Garrets and Pretenders: a History ofBohemianism in America is written by Albert Parry who is from Russia. The authordescribes the personal experiences and life of Bohemian writers, showing the attitude ofBohemians toward their life. The report consists of6parts. The first part is introduction, itintroduces the purpose, contents and focus, used methods and structure of the report. Thesecond part is task depiction and background introduction, including introduction ofcontemporary Bohemia study, introduction of Albert Parry, introduction of Garrets andPretenders: a History of Bohemianism in America and the translation value of the text. Italso gives a brief introduction of the process of the translation. The third part is case analysis.Examples of the text will be given to analyze the translation skills, methods and problemsappeared in the progress, focusing on the analysis of translation of Bohemian characters,Bohemian culture and complex sentences. The translator, after some analysis, summarizessome skills of translating the similar texts. The fourth part is the summary of the translationprogress. In this part, problems made and experiences gained in the progress is introduced inthis part. The fifth part is the evaluation of the project. The sixth part is conclusion.
