Chinese idioms are the most active, vivid, and distinctive part ofChinese vocabulary. And the special society life, custom, historic culture and etc can beindicated by most of them. Because there is not too much research in teaching for themain body of the idioms. So, the study in the past time often concentrate on the phrasemain body. This article are oriented from the basic concept of idioms, the method ofillustration analysis is used, and idioms status in Chinese culture as well as in Chineseas a foreign language and the reason of the mistakes are discussed. Then the teachingstrategy and the mentality for idioms foreign teaching are proposed. At last, it giveshope to have values to the perfection and improvement of idioms for foreign teaching.In view of these conditions mentioned above, five aspects are selected by theauthor.Chapter One: Introduction. The source of Chinese idioms, the analysis of theconcept, the reason for the choice, research methodology and theoretical basis areespecially introduced.Chapter Two: Chinese idioms are explained. the past, experts and scholars in theidiom of the extension of the source, definition, connotation and extension of thedefinition, idioms and characteristics of the grammatical structure of language andChinese culture and habits and etc. are discussed.Chapter Three: Foreign teaching of idioms. First, the important role of idiomteaching in foreign language teaching is discussed, then the difficulty of learning idiomsare talked about.Chapter Four: Phrase application analysis of foreign students. The majority offoreign students have strong interest on Chinese idioms and hope to carry on the spokenlanguage expression and written expression through the Chinese phrase, but they havedifferent views in the actual utilization. The main performance has the form of writing,the semantics understood, the grammar utilization, the language processingļ¼Œand etc..Based on this research and analysis, Chinese customs bias term causes of thephenomenon are described in detail.Chapter Five: Idioms teaching strategy and the mentality. Idioms teaching has notobtained the full understanding in Chinese teaching status, and the phrase is insufficientenrichment. Some Chinese teacher avoid idioms teaching. In order to solve theseproblems, the relevant suggestions are proposed by the author, which gives hope toafford help to the improvement of Chinese idioms teaching.
