Chinese idioms are commonly used in our daily communication. They are humorous and theyrepresent Chinese culture. Also they play an important role in Chinese vocabulary. For a long time,many experts have focused on ontology research on idioms, recent years this research about theaspect of teaching Chinese as a foreign language has become more and more. Many experts haveexplored on its definition, nature and source. They achieved a great success. AlthoughVerb-objects idioms have the largest proportion in idioms, but the researches on them are scant.Because of its literal meaning and deep meaning are inconsistent. it has become the foreignstudents’ big difficulty for their Chinese learning. So we should pay more attention on Verb-objectidioms in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Based on this, this paper summarized theprevious results and raised some suggestions about teaching Verb-object idioms to foreignstudents.This paper can be divided into five chapters.Chapter1: Introduction. This chapter includes the purpose of the researching, the value indoing it, the research background and research method. Chapter2: This part introduces the Verb-object idioms in teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage. It includes the definition and characteristics of idioms, the verb-object idioms teachingcontent and their status and role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter3: the survey on foreign students use Verb-object idioms'condition. It includes HSKdynamic composition corpus, questionnaire survey, interview survey and the result of all thesurveys.Chapter4: This part is the analysis and think of the condition that foreign students use theverb-object idioms. The last part is suggestions about the teaching of Verb-object idioms.Chapter5: conclusion. This part summarizes the contents of this paper, raise questions andpoint the shortage.Because Verb-object idioms play an important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,so the research on them has been a long time. This thesis wants to research the condition andfrequency of foreign students use the verb-object idioms. By this research, we can find theproblems when foreign students use Verb-object idioms. So we can find the appropriate methodsand improve the problems in teaching verb-object idioms, this can benefit Chinese teaching a lot.
