The Reseach Of Liu Tianhua And His Three Pieces Of Pipa Works Of Performance Art

Liu Tianhua, whose personal experiences as well as Pipa works had been deeply affected by the political, social and cultural factors in early20th century when the Five Four New Culture Movement gains its affluences in China. As a result, Liu’s Pipa work had been stamped by the characteristics of the times, the music styles, the playing techniques of that time. This article shows the author’s understanding of Liu Tianhua via analyzing his Pipa works from outside to inside, from the general to the unique, from his personal trademarks to his work characteristics. Liu Tianhua had inherited the traditions, while at the same time dare to across the old boundaries, and tried his best to make a change and achieved great musical accomplishments in the frame of that time, and had left a valuable artistic fortune to us.
