Creativity and artistry are two terms often used interchangeably. Abundantachievements have been attained by scholars in the study of the creativity oftranslation under the perspective of translation aesthetics (especially literaryaesthetics). But the deficiency is that all these studies are chiefly focused on literarytexts. The field of the study is more or less limited. Compared with the study onliterary translation, the study on non-literary translation is much too superficial andinsufficient and the conclusions that have been reached are less systematic andcomprehensive. That suggests that the study on non-literary translation render itself agood subject for the author. The expressiveness of language is important no matteryou are translating literary texts or non-literary texts. The study of the creativity ofnon-literary translation is worthwhile and will contribute much to the accumulation ofknowledge in the field. The Mission of Art is written by the American artist, Alex Grey. The author of the thesis has already translated Chapter Two (To See orNot to See) and all the examples of the thesis are taken from it.From the perspective of translation Aesthetics, the author of the thesis aims atcomparing non-literary translation to literary translation from the aspects of objects, targets, difficulties and essences to find differences between non-literary translationand literary translation. The scientific transfer of concepts and ideologies of theoriginal text are the pursuit and target of non-literary translation. The conclusion ofthe thesis is that the creativity of non-literary translation is the overcome of semantic, syntactic and cultural difficulties.
