A Contrastive Study On ’Happiness’ Expression Idioms In Korean And Chinese

Idiom is not only a kind of idiomatic phrases, but also a product of the national culture of one country. Different language idioms reflect their local customs and practices, the different ethnic national characteristics and habits of life and cultural backgrounds. As an important integral part of Korean and Chinese cultures, idiom is different from other phrases and contains a kind of social culrural tradition of language and has recorded social cultural evolutions, so whenever it is always an indispensable language form.In this paper, idioms relevant to’happiness’in Korean and Chinese are the key objects. I try to identify similarities and differences, summarize the characteristics, to make the learners have a destination to learn Korean idioms and use them correctly in commucation, by interpreting frequently used idiomatic performances and analyzing. It has a very important significance to study the differences and similarities of the idioms between Korean and Chinese. On one hand, it can deepen our understanding of both languages and countries. On the other hand, it is helpful to the teaching and learning of Chinese and Korean.In the introduction, I described the definition and characteristics of the diom. As the basis, after this, I have done a contrast in similarities and differences to the Korean and Chinese ’happiness’ idioms from the semantic and structural aspects. Then, I have got the differences between Chinese and Korean ’happiness’ emotional idioms and try to find the reasons. At last, I have made a summary about the above content.There are four chapters in this paper.The first chapter has introduced the purpose, significance, status and researching methods.The second chapter has compared the Korean and Chinese’happiness’ idioms from the semantic aspect.The third chapter has compared the Korean and Chinese ’happiness’ idioms from the structural aspect.The forth chapter has concluded and sum up the main content of the paper.
