In recent years, with the prevalence of morpheme teaching method in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, scholars’ researches on morpheme are more and more in-depth, various morpheme classifications are coming out one after the other. In this article, we use the theory of inherited morpheme, which proposed by professor Yang. From lasted angle, the scope of the study is about human-related morphemes, this paper research the usage of inherited human-related morphemes in modern Chinese word formation, associated inherited human-related morphemes with teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and give some advices about compiling Chinese as a foreign Language dictionary.The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is introduction, mainly stating the study purpose and significance of the thesis, current study situation in domestic and overseas fields, the status quo of study subject, and study method and ideas.The second part is the introduction of inherited morpheme theory and its development process, clear the Eastern Han Dynasty as a time standard which divide inherited morpheme and modern morpheme. Meanwhile, this part also describes the characteristics of human-related morphemes:polymeric, prolific, polysemy and so on, reflects the significance of this study. At last, we analysis the data of inherited human-related morphemes corpus, which built by ourselves.According to the ability of word formation, we divide the morpheme of corpus. At this part we will focus on the inherited human-related morphemes which have strong ability of word formation, but we have a description of the other inherited human-related morphemes which are weak in word formation. According to the different parts of the body and the ability of word formation, we select eight inherited human-related morphemes to do specific research, they are:head, face, mouth, neck, body, heart, hands, feet. In the course of the study, we summarize the defect of the Modern Chinese Dictionary (Fifth edition). At last, we do some researches about corpus’ isomorphic morphemes and multi-tone morphemes.The fourth part connects inherited morpheme theory with teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Discuss the significance of the morpheme teaching method in Chinese vocabulary teaching. The research of inherited morphemes will bring some benefits for Chinese vocabulary teaching. On the other hand, we can know the importance of inherited morphemes from their distribution in Chinese vocabulary.The fifth part is mainly investigating the newer three influential Chinese as a Foreign Language Dictionary; discuss the dictionaries’ characteristics and drawbacks. At the same time, based on the study of the Modern Chinese Dictionary (Fifth edition), we propose several ideas on Chinese as a Foreign Language Dictionary codification.The sixth part is epilogue which is to summarize the main viewpoint and conclusion in the thesis and put forward some shortcomings in the study process.
