This paper is focus on Shazikou, a harbor which lands on the south coast ofLaoshan Mountain in Tsingtao. This region is a typical case in economic, society andculture. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasty.1861, xianfeng11th of Qing Dynasty,Shazikou branch of Chefoo Customs was set up. The Germany army aggressed theJiaozhou Bay in1898.Shazikou sub-district was set up in1998.This is a managementunit of urban management. The villages in Shazikou of whole Tsingtao turned tocommunities were in2004.In2012, The Political division was adjusted. The history ofShazikou is long and impact so far.It can be seen in the picture of political division, the regional status was mutative.The policy had a large influence in Shazikou. As the geographic position and richmarine resource, its military position was important. The variation of policy divisioncan reflect the whole Tsingtao’s variation.The nature geography shaped the mountain-marine economy slowly. Thiseconomic structure is the most important in this area. Beside self-sufficiency, theharbor economy can promote the economy of inland. The inland applied thelogistics support. The fishery production is also important in this region. Today,Shazikou is country-level1fishing port. It acts the role as fishing port further.The variation of population reflected the society intuitively, no matter the peoplein the mountain, or the fishermen. The variation of population in this region is limitedin the nature environment and the improvement of food. The population also reflectsthe variation of economy and society. The people in Shazikou maintain the livingcustoms of Eastern Jiaozhou peninsula. Shazikou is a coastal region, so the maritimebelief in Shazikou is popular.The people in Shazikou live in this land and the beach. There are manysettlements. These settlements showed the feature of mountain and sea. The variationof these settlements reflects the variation of society and economy.With theurbanization, the transform of these settlements is much more obvious. Because of thegeographic advantages, the folk houses in the settlements are removed.Many tallbuildings are built. This phenomenon is general in the coastal fishing villages of allthe country. Nowadays, the government put forward the policy ofnew-type urbanization and Maritime China. How to develop this region and what’sthe region’s future under the circumstances. This is a further question for us toresearch.
