Bearing abundant Chinese historical and cultural information, Chinese tourismresources are an important part of Chinese culture. As an MTI student, the author holdsthe view that it is an important mission to convey the connotative information of thesource text to the target audience despite of the great differences existing betweenChinese and English languages, food as well as culture.With the fast development and opening up in Chinese tourism, numerous foreigntourists visit China. Although not all the tourists are from the English speaking countries,English, as an international language, has always been a crucial tool and medium forcommunication and tourist industry. However, due to the different cultures, thinkingpatterns and angles of view, it is definitely not easy to launch tourism activities smoothlyand also it is not easy to interpret Chinese tourism text precisely.Over the past several years, China has made an all-round and all-level exchangeswith the some countries and regions, thus we know the world better and the world learnmore about China. Under the present circumstances, China needs more excellentlyqualified interpreters to meet her all-round development needs and profound research onthe interpreting theory and techniques based on practical experience. The arrival ofinterpreting’s golden age is the call of times and our country and also is an opportunityand challenge the MTI students are facing.This simulation practice report is written under the guidance of Skopostheory,linking theory with practice, proceeding from the actual situation. The core concept ofSkopostheory is that the purpose of translation or interpreting activity is the mostimportant factor over the process. The translation could be understood by the targetaudience in the specific language context and culture. The purpose of translation orinterpreting activity decides the process of the activity, that is to say, the purpose deicidesthe strategies. Translators or interpreters should be clear with the specific purpose undercertain context and accordingly choose the appropriate strategies——the literaltranslation, the free translation or in between.This practice report of simulation consecutive interpreting is composed based on theauthor’s personal practice and analyzes the author’s interpreting process and texts withcorresponding strategies in detail.
