A Practice Interpreting Report On Wu Bixia Interview

This practice is based on Wu Bixia Interview in popular CCTV program Art and Life. Art and Life is a receptive talk show, aiming at sharing guests’ experiences and inspiration in life and art in relaxing atmosphere. It is suitable for various fields’ audiences of all age because the invited guests are various, including venerable elder artists and hot big names. The author hopes that this interpreting practice could bridge the gap between foreign audiences and Chinese programs and further attract foreigners to learn about Chinese culture.This report consists of three chapters:Chapter one is task description. It mainly introduces the research background and the realistic meaning of Art and Life and the reasons for choosing Wu Bixia Interview.Chapter two is process description. It generally describes pre-preparation work, interpreting process and note taking skill in the practice.Chapter three is case analysis. It consists of two parts.The first part introduces the interpreting strategy in the practice, such as linear interpretation, liberal interpretation, context interpretation, sense group division, etc. Many typical cases are provided for reference.The second part introduces the difficulty in interpreting, including lexical gap between Chinese and English and proper nouns interpreting.The conclusion part shares the author’s inspiration in this practice with an overall analysis of interpreting process.
