Western chorus originated from the ancient Greek society, and is closely related to the religion.Renaissance is a development peak of church music, and in the splendid days, fine musician emerge inendlessly, they not only promote the development of the whole church music, but also to show the music ofan era of constant from mature to delicate and perfect artistic process. Josquin and Palestrina were have tomention’s two excellent musicians, their creation to build up the fine tradition of western music, their songscripture, mass and ShangSong become deeply love to the world of classical art, they are not only twomonument to the Renaissance music, their creation is more profound influence to other musicians ageneration and a generation.The Renaissance is one of the most glorious periods in the history of music and, especially, is a newbreakthrough in the choral art.There existed a form of choral singing in church without instrumentalaccompaniment, named as “a cappella”, which literally means “for the church”.This represents a cappellapolyphony of16th century, a golden age of the church.Josquin and Palestrina are two especially outstanding representatives in the domain of music in theRenaissance. The former(Josquin) has been considerd to be the greatest musicians in the Middle Ages andthe Renaissance, whose religious music mostly written in a style of polyphonic and mimic techniques is topromote the development of polyphony. And the latter (Palestrina), frequently supporting pure melody witha pure harmonies effect, is referred to as “the Church Music Savior”.Based on contrast Josquin and Palestrina’s works of the similarities and differences in the churchmusic, for the Hope that through research and analysis of two musicians writing, can t provide a goodreference from the scope and content of domestic study choral art.
