This is a translation project report on chapter4of Translation Goes To theMovies written by Irish scholar Micheal Cronin. This book is an academic monograph.In chapter4, the author selected lost in translation and the interpreter and other filmas analysis objects. This report on the functional equivalence theory, with examples,discusses the selection, extension and expression of the lexical meaning to solve thetranslation problems on lexical level; it also discusses the translation methods of longsentences, namely “reinventing sentence structures” and “segmentation” on sentencelevel, and uses the repetition method to solve the cohesion problem on textual level,which is to provide some reference for academic text translation.
