The Characteristics And Limitations Of Generative Graphics Heritage Of Classical Art

Brush-and-ink is a special way to express the artistic conception inChinese Painting. As well the artistic conception is the most preciousthing that has been pursued in Chinese classic art. Such as calligraphy,Chinese Painting, Chinese opera or other art forms. It blends with theartist’s sentiment, humanistic spirits and Eastern Philosophy. Now welive in an era of technological revolution, with the developing of newmedias. There are many digital artworks "imitation" of traditional art.I think we should do more effort on using new media to inherit the spiritualand aesthetics rather than the formal imitation. In this article, I wanttry show the pros and cons between the digital media and the traditionalmedia; analysis the different way of thinking between painting (graphic)and programming (logic). According the experience of my own work, I wantto explore the possibility of generative images, witch based on Processing,contact with Chinese painting and the theatrical design of Kunqu Opera.Try to find a method by using the traditional aesthetic literacy tore-creation the generate graphics on the shape, color, layout in the finalsynthesis.
