Study On Cultural Competitiveness Spatial And Temporal Pattern Evolution In Henan Province

As a kind of intangible asset, culture competitiveness is significant for a region and closelyrelated to the resources and atmosphere of the region, as well as its development level. Based onthe connotation of culture competitiveness and its influencing factors, this paper divides culturecompetitiveness into three levels: the basic, the core and the sustainable, to evaluate itscompetitiveness in Henan Province. First of all, we get the correct concept and connotation ofculture competitiveness and then construct its index system. Secondly, apply Factor Analysis intothe calculations of synthesis scores of the18city culture sites in Henan Province in2011and theirscores from2005to2011. In this way, we can see the special variability and dynamic evolution ofculture competitiveness in Henan Province from the two dimensions. Finally, it proposesappropriate strategies from the points of factors and region types.The characteristics of culture competitiveness in Henan as follows:First, from the point of special variability，we can see the characteristics of culturecompetitiveness.Cultural competitiveness and its factor levels can be divided into five types: strong, relativelystrong, medium, relatively weak and weak. The spatial distribution has its own characteristics. Thebasic one: the relatively strong cities appear as a semi-circle like “C”; ZhengZhou is the core;there are more relatively weak cities in the middle of the “C”. The core one: among the relativelystrong cities, ZhengZhou is also the center, from the west to the east like a line; there are moremedium cities, most in the east of Henan. The sustainable one: ZhengZhou and LuoYang have thehighest level; others gradually distribute lowly to each sides like a ring; half cities have arelatively higher sustainability.Second, from the point of time series， we can see the characteristics of culturecompetitiveness.The culture competitiveness of the18cities sites in Henan is relatively steady, most of whichare below the average level, so there is little disparity. But there are several cities shows a higher level, such as ZhengZhou, LuoYang and NanYang, where ZhengZhou ranks in the first, thoughtheir overall trend is relatively steady. In2011, the three cities all showed a declining trend,especially ZhengZhou,LuoYang and NanYang came to its lowest point in2007.Though below the average level, Xinyang is relatively steady, but has a declining trendtogether with XinXiang which rose more rapidly in2011. JiYuan rose rapidly before the year of2007, came to a peak in2007, then declined to the lowest in2011, as the last one of the18cites.
