Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question are very important sentence patterns expressing different tones and feelings in daily life as well as key and difficult points in the process of second language acquisition. In fact, the Interrogative Rhetorical Question, one of the general term of Korean grammar, is the Specially Related Rhetorical Question in Chinese. Therefore, the comparative study between Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question has the theoretical and practical implications. Up to the present, few scholars have been involved in this subject. Based on above those are the reasons why we choose this topic.Similarities and differences are found through exploiting the types and features of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question on the basis of teaching materials of Chinese as a Foreign Language and teaching materials of Korean as a Foreign Language. While "Road to Success" and "New Practical Chinese Reader" are classical teaching materials of Chinese as a Foreign Language,"University’s Korean" and the "Korean" are representative textbooks of Korean as a Foreign Language. Four kinds of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question("zenme","shenme","na","shui") which are mentioned in the "Road to Success" and the "New Practical Chinese Reader" and four kinds of Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question("(?)(zenme)","(?)(shenme)/-(?)(shenme)","(?)(na)","(?)(shui)") from the "University’s Korean" and the "Korean" are given comprehensive analysis. According to the results of the comparative study, some suggestions are provided when compiling Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question in the teaching materials of Chinese as a Foreign Language and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question in the teaching materials of Korean as a Foreign Language.This thesis is mainly divided into four chapters.The first chapter is a general overview of the study on this topic, including the definition of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question, relevant studies of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question, literature review of contrastive studies between Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question, the source of utterance materials, the study methods and strengths and weaknesses of the thesis.The second chapter is the comparative study between Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question. It contains three parts:the study of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question, the study of Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question and the comparative study of Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question.In the third chapter, analysis on the four Chinese Specially Related Rhetorical Question in the teaching materials of Chinese as a Foreign Language and Korean Interrogative Rhetorical Question in the teaching materials of Korean as a Foreign Language will be made. Also some advice will be offered when compiling the related teaching materials.The fourth chapter serves as the conclusion, summarizing the main points of the whole thesis.
