Report On Simulated Interpreting For The Product Launch Of Samsung Galaxy S4

Product launch is one of the methods for promoting a certain kind of new product, which is becoming more and more popular recently. With the development of China’s economy, an increasing number of foreign companies choose to expand their businesses in China. However, sometimes, the language barrier existed in different countries makes interpretation necessary in product launch.Some official press conferences, such as the press conference by the government are usually taken as research materials before, neglecting the fact that businesses now are more and more innovative in launching its products to attract wider attention. This paper is a research on simulation interpretation for the product launch of Samsung Galaxy S4, which is different from the normal ones. It combines technical introduction as well as lively performance containing humors and dialogues, which is a new challenge in interpretation.This report is based on the product launch of Samsung Galaxy S4, focusing on interpreter’s skills in dealing with the whole process of interpretation, especially the skills needed when the speaker is influenced by native accent, a speech involves professional terms and lots of humors and dialogues. The methods used in this paper is analyzing the process of the simulation interpreting, including selecting materials and preparation, recording the difficulties, strategies and tactics used in interpreting. Through this report, we can see that the listening, memorizing and production skills can be learned from practice. The experience and skills will be summarized in the report, which can be taken as a reference for training interpreters in the future.
