A Report On Simulated Simultaneous Interpretation Of Xiaomi 2016 Spring New Product Launch Event

Nowadays,product launch event has been a popular way for an enterprise to introduce and promote a new product.High-efficiency simultaneous interpreting is necessary for achieving successful communication between the enterprise and the guests from different language and culture backgrounds.The author chose Lei Jun’s speech on Xiaomi 2016 Spring New Product Launch Event as the source text for the practice of simultaneous interpreting.The report is based on a Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting practice and the author tries to simulate the process of a real simultaneous interpretation under the guidance of the interpretive theory in order to explore the practicability and feasibility of interpreting methods.According to the interpretive theory,interpreting is regulated by the principle of "equivalence of sense".The basic tenet of the theory is that interpreting is based on meaning(sense),so what an interpreter should focus on is not the form of the source language but its meaning and sense.Due to the characteristics of pretty specialized terms and large amount of information in the source text,the author analyzes the problems in the interpreting process and proposes corresponding problem-solving methods,including simplification,addition,anticipation and conversion with an intention to provide effective suggestions on the improvement of interpreting quality and explore the methods for the enhancement of interpreting skills on similar interpreting practices.
