With the development of reform and opening-up and the increasing number of international exchanges and conferences in China, more high standard interpreters are much in need. However, the English level and interpretation skills of many English or MTI major students fail to fulfill this high standard. Therefore, the seeking of qualified interpreters in the market has never stopped. As a result, the requirement of interpretation training and teaching has become important for both researchers and teachers. For this reason, the need of in-depth study in interpretation training and teaching method is highlighted.This thesis aims to analyze the press conferences of Wen Jiabao and Li Keqiang after the NPC&CPPCC from2012to2014from the linguistic concept of lexical chunks. According to the definition and categorization of Chinese and English lexical chunks this thesis provides specific examples of Chinese and English lexical chunks from the language materials. Meanwhile, on the basis of the comparisons between English and Chinese lexical chunks, the author summarizes the corresponding relationship between the categories of English and Chinese lexical chunks. Then, the thesis analyzes the sequence transformation of such chunks in the process of interpretation to build a Chinese-to-English conference interpretation model based on the theories of lexical chunks, which contains seven steps in Chinese-to-English interpretation, sequence adjustment and the speak-out of an English sentence. The application of the model is exemplified by two examples, after which some adjustments of the model are made and the models for training and field interpretation are suggested. The training model is the same as the original one for the learners to fully practice and handle the model. Because the training and practices make the learners more familiar with the model and lexical chunks, the field model is then simplified on the basis of the training model in order to save time and pressure for the interpreters.
