Lover-concept Threat Weaken Face Advantage

Close relationship influence life quality by providing physical and emotional support.Previous research lovers’positive concept is vital to develop a stable relationship.Implicit Positive Association Theory hypothesizes that lovers’face recognition have an advantage, because accompanied with the lover of the concept of consciousness awakened lover positive attributes response, sped up the face recognition for lovers, so by lovers concept threat can weaken the advantage of lovers face recognition effect.In experiment1,presented with photographs of their own,their lover’s,famous stars’faces and unfamiliar faces in different views to complete a face orientation identification task. The results show that under the lover concept non-threaten condition, self face’s reaction and reaction standardization significantly shorter than that of other faces, the lover face’s reaction and reaction standardization significantly shorter than strangers’and super stars’faces; under the lover concept threat condition, the self face reaction standardization significantly longer than that under lover concept non-threaten condition, the lover face’s reaction and reaction standardization significantly was significantly longer than that under lover concept non-threaten condition.In experiment2, eye tracker was used to test observers show self-face advantage in visual search task. The results show that when the self face’s mouth style is consistent with the search target mouth, search for self face significantly shorter than that other face, less number of saccade, less number of interest that is before reaching the target area, shorter saccade latency; when the self face’s mouth style is inconsistent with the search target mouth, less number of interest that is before reaching the target area than that other face, shorter saccade latency.Under the lover concept threaten condition, search for self face’s needs less number of interest that is before reaching the target area than that under lover concept non-threaten condition.When the lover face’s mouth style is consistent with the search target mouth, search for lover face needing significantly less number of saccade, less number of interest that is before reaching the target area than that other face; when the self face’s mouth style is inconsistent with the search target mouth, shorter latency of saccade than that other face.Under the lover concept threaten condition, search for self face’s needs less number of interest that is before reaching the target area than that under lover concept non-threaten condition.Both self and lover face’s total fixation duration is longer than other faces.Under the lover concept threaten condition,total fixation duration shorter than that under lover concept non-threaten condition.In conclusion, the study demonstrated that lover-concept threat eliminated lover-face and self-face advantage.(1)We found that participants identify the orientation of one’s own face and lover’s face faster than famous stars’ faces and unfamiliar faces, there was no significant difference between the reaction time of self face and lovers’face in the no concept threat condition. Lover-concept threat inhibited self-face and lover-face advantage when participants responded to self and lover’s face.(2)We found that participants identify one’s own face and lover’s face faster than unfamiliar faces, there was no significant difference between the reaction time of self face and lovers’face in the no concept threat condition.Lover-concept threat inhibited self-face and lover-face advantage when participants responded to self and lover’s face, as evidenced by"a difficulty to disengage attention ",and promote self-face and lover-face advantage when participants responded to self and lover’s face, as evidenced by "prioritized processing ".
