This is a research on Lu You’s prose, including the relationship between history and literature in Lu’s prose, Lu’s rhythmical prose and the relationship between Lu You and Ouyang Xiu. First in prolegomenon, the paper made a commentary on the study of Lu You’s prose from1900to2012and introduced the research plan. The first chapter discussed the relationship between Lu You and Ouyang Xiu. Lu You honored the tradition of ancient prose movement in Tang and Song Dynasties. His creation of prose followed Ouyang Xiu’s footsteps. Ouyang Xiu’s literary thoughts had an effect on him. Lu You’s creation of prose, such as Memorials of Entering Sichuan(《入蜀记》),postscripts, monumental writings, Tree peony in Tianpeng(《天彭牡丹谱》)and so on, used a lot of Ouyang Xiu’s experience for reference. In a word, Lu You learned a lot from Ouyang Xiu who was a leader of ancient prose movement in Song Dynasty. The second chapter is to investigate the interaction between history and literature in Lu’s prose creation. The first segment discussed Nan Tang Shu(《南唐书》)which was a history work about the Southern Tang Dynasty written by Lu You. Lu expressed his deep and sincere feelings about the South-Song Dynasty in Nan Tang Shu(《南唐书》). His loyalty and anger had a great influence on the book’s compiling style and the choice of the historical materials. It also made a big impact on his narration and historical comments. The second segment is a research on Lu You’s Memorials of Entering Sichuan. Lu followed Li Ao’s(李翱)footsteps, whose work named Lai Nan Lu(《来南录》),and imitated the form of annalistic style book. Memorials of Entering Sichuan had the spirit of veritable records and paid lots of attention to historical geography. It had a historical writing style, so there was little emotion and argument in this work. Lu’s history accomplishment made the work better than other similar books. Lu’s history accomplishment had a great influence on his other prose, such as monumental writings, biographies, postscripts, notes, and so on. The third segment discussed that issue. The third chapter is a research on Lu You’s rhythmical prose, including Biaowen, Jianwen and Qiwen. His writing style was natural and pellucid. There were lots of characteristics about prose in Lu’s rhythmical prose, such as arguments, function words and long sentences. Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi had some impact on his creation.
