The study of Confucianism of the period of the Eastern Han Dynasty isthe booming period of the research history of Confucianism in our country. As one ofthe most famous thinker of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wang Chong’s Confucianism hasa very profound impact on Confucianism in Mediaeval Times. Besides, because ofWang Chong’s thought is very unique, academic circle has paid much attention andconcern to his thought of Confucianism. The life of Wang Chong can be said to be poorto force down, long-term sink to the bottom of the society. His book <Lun Heng> whichis his most famous one is rich in content and independent-minded, but it is ignored for along time in history. Its breadth and depth of the influence doesn’t match its stature ofthought. Wang Chong’s thought is not accepted by the people of the world until the lateEastern Han Dynasty. From the perspective of Wang Chong’s way of observing theworld and thinking, some people defines Wang Chong as an alternative thinker. Indeed,Wang Chong’s thought can be said to be new, unprecedented and unrepeatable. Themost glorious part of Wang Chong’s cultural spirit is that He doesn’t believe sagesblindly, thinks Confucianism as history, dares to criticize and seeks truth from facts.Combined with <Lun Heng>, this paper combs the basic information of <LunHeng> and <Wu Jing> and analyses the thought of Wang Chong’s Confucianismthrough combining literature debate and quantitative statistics test. Besides, this paperresearches, thinks and evaluates the Wang Chong’s status of history of Confucianism ofHan Dynasty and the value of his thought of Confucianism through the way ofcombining transverse comparison and longitudinal impact, and systematically analysesthe status, representative and the practical significance of Wang Chong and his thoughtsin Han Dynasty.This paper can be divided into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.The introduction part introduces the intention of writing this article, researching purpose, writing process and writing methods; the significance of the current researchstatus of Wang Chong’s Confucianism, Wang Chong’s <Lun Heng>, the influence ofWang Chong’s Confucianism and a range of issues, ect. With the background of HanConfucianism, the main body of the paper overviews the rise and inheritance ofConfucianism, and briefly describes the rise and fall of the ancient and modernConfucianism and the origin of the Confucianism. It also summarizes the spreading andinfluence of Confucianism during the Han Dynasty and Wang Chong’s attitude towardsChen Wei, analyses the content and the historical value of <Lun Heng>, and detailedlyanalyses the characteristic, the basic idea and time significance. The conclusion partbriefly expounds the impact on the status of academic thoughts of <Lun Heng>.Combined with actual, this part also applies the advanced ideas of <Lun Heng> into therealistic problems in the contemporary society and evaluates Wang Chong’sConfucianism integrally.
