Attempting to introduce positive psychology into mental health educationin primary school, this study wrote a school-based curriculum called “PositivePsychology Course” and organized teaching in the suitable forms loved by pupils,such as activities, picture books, games, etc. Taking two sixth-grade classes’students (40students per class) as intervention objects, an experimental methodwas used to investigate the effects of "Positive Psychology Course" on pupils’positive emotions. During the experimental period which last for two semesters,the experimental class had a lesson fortnightly while the control class had nolesson. In order to evaluate the effects of intervention courses, Positive andNegative Affect Schedule (PANAS) compiled by Watson was used to test studentsbefore and after the experiment, supplemented with interviews after theexperiment. The results of the study show that, firstly, the PANAS’s F-test of theexperimental class and the control class was p>0.05before the experiment and p<0.05after the experiment and that, secondly, the PANAS’s T-test of the boys andgirls from the experimental class was p>0.05before the experiment and p>0.05after the experiment.In this study the following conclusions can be drew: firstly, the “PositivePsychology Course” makes a significant contribution to improving pupils’positive emotions; secondly, the effects of the “Positive Psychology Course” onpupils’ positive emotions don’t have gender differences; thirdly, the “PositivePsychology Course” based on positive psychology is very suitable for pupils,especially for high-level graders in primary school; fourthly, the “PositivePsychology Course” realizes the applied value of positive psychology.
